A Seaside Affair | Book Review

I love reading books. The fact that they can transport you to a new world, let you in on somebody else's life, having the knowledge of somebody else's thoughts and emotions. I really enjoy the feeling you get when you are so interested by the book you complete it within days and when you find yourself not wanting to put it down no matter what you are doing.

That's how I felt about this book, A Seaside Affair. Now maybe this was because I hadn't read a book in a while and so the thought of reading again excited me, or the story was just that good. I'm going to go with both reasons.

When a coffee chain tries to take over a run down but well loved theatre in the Cornish seaside town of Trevay, the residents are outraged and take it upon themselves to save it. With the help of the vicars wife, Penny Leighton, a hot shot producer, the town soon becomes flooded with actors and stars all wanting to show their support and take part in a charity season at the theatre. With the help under way will they be able to save the theatre at the same time as keeping on top of their own lives and careers.

I must say I absolutely loved this book. The story-line is engaging, bringing in characters from different backgrounds so there is someone for everyone to relate to. I find TV/Film lifestyles really interesting and one of my favourite places is Cornwall, so it's no wonder I really enjoyed this book as it has a great mixture of the two. I believe this book would be a great read whilst on holiday as it has a very light-hearted, fun feel to it. I had never heard of Fern Britton before but after reading this book I will definitely look into more books by her. Every page made me want to read more, there was never a boring part that I wanted to skip and therefore I would recommend it to you.

Have you ever read a Fern Britton book? What is your favourite book at the moment?
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!

  2. I've never read Fern Britton -- I've never heard of her, in fact, which is such a shame because this sounds like a wonderful book! I always love a book set against the entertainment industry, especially against tv and film! I'll definitely add this book to my to-read list!

Current favourite book would be a middle grade book called Ophelia and The Marvelous Boy! Have a great day too, Jessie!
